Update 6 - The big one
Aquarium » Devlog
HELLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOO AQUARIUMERS!
This is a MASSIVE content update, so buckle in and get ready to hear!
- 5 new fish!
- 2 of which are rares that require something specific before they are able to appear- more on that later.
- The dicefish
- Gets randomly between +1 and +6 value on all the food it eats. Feeling lucky?
- The screwtooth fish
- Steals 2 value from fish that are worth more than it. Poke!
- The skillet shrimp
- Fries rice that has a nutrition of 2 for your other fish to eat! Delicious!
- The usual batch of new customizations- a couple vaporwave inspired ones, some classic game inspired ones, and some other just general ones
- The original recolor trios of the backdrops and floors now are unlocked by default. No need to buy them!
- I think the price of the customizations kind of locks beginners out of them. Given that customizations are such a big part of aquarium, I figured this should change
- Keeping in the spirit of making early game better, I shifted around the unlock order a little to make it so that you unlock cash-based fish a little faster.
- Customizations menu now uses tabs instead of massive scrollbar, similarly to shop.
- Look, I'm not a ui designer, but I CAN tell you that having that many scrollbars was. A bad idea.

- Whenever a tab isn't selected in the shop, there will be a random tip there!
- These may occasionally give hints as to how to see the 2 rare fish ;)
- Fish can no longer get stuck out of bounds. Period.
- Turns out godot just has a hitbox that keeps everything on one side of it.
- Many, many changes to pre-existing fish.
- Whale
- Right-clicking on whale to make it spit out whatever it had now works on locked whales
- Whales now hold things for much longer
- Phantom fish
- Border-color changed for consistency (Except while phasing)
- Urchin
- Doesn't steal from floor fish
- Both snails
- Reduced gravity
- Robot snail
- Value bonus significantly increased
- Sea angel
- Initial value bonus significantly decreased.
- Don't worry, half of 4x better than every other auto value gaining fish is still 2x better
- Initial value bonus significantly decreased.
- Seahorse
- Slight buff to value gain
- Crab
- Now does little tiny hops as it moves around. Adorable!
- Whale
- Finally, there is a new setting menu option to disable the pop-up numbers when fish change value.
- Aquarium was originally meant to be a screensaver more than a game. The pop-up numbers made it a significantly better game, but kinda distracting as a screensaver. This toggle letting you decide will be incredibly useful for those wanting a more laid-back experience, or for people trying to get screenshots without all those pesky popups
Quite a bit to go through, but I am incredibly proud of this update. Have fun, and happy hunting for the 2 rares!
P.S. Isn't the goldsource engine interesting? ;)
